HEATING update

RENEWAL OF HEATING SYSTEM IN OUR LADY STAR OF THE SEA AND ST MICHAEL

LMG from Preston will begin work on the heating system on Monday 24 June 2019, replacing the inefficient ‘blower’ system. This company installed energy efficient ‘side by side’ boilers in the church in 2016.

Subject to their commitments,  the contractor may be able to start work, week commencing 17 June 2019.

A total of 37 radiators will be installed at a cost of £78,000. When the cost of the ‘side by side’ boilers is taken into consideration, the parish will have invested £105,000 on the heating system since 2016.

The whole of this sum has been drawn from rapidly diminishing financial reserves.

The first phase of the work will be ‘striping out’ existing pipework and ‘blowers’.

Pipework in the Narthex and Nave will be underfloor. The remainder in the Choir Loft, Baptistery, Sanctuary, Lady Altar, Sacred Heart Altar and Sacristies will be visible, following where possible, existing routes.

The contractor will work around scheduled Mass times and funerals.

They will be on site between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday through Friday, working around funerals and  Mass schedules.

The church will remain open to the public as usual with hopefully, minimal disruption.

A copy of LMG Health & Safety manual and their public liability insurance will be available in the church.

It is anticipated that the work will be completed by mid August.

All visitors to the church MUST take care not to interfere with the work and act responsibly in relation to safety. On occasions, pipes and radiators may be stored in the south Transept.

The floor plan shows where the new radiators are to be installed.
